Gimme a Hat

Time for a new hat. The one I’ve got is getting tattered. It was a good hat – the black NY Yankees logo, adjustable fit, nice bill. I wish I could find another one just like it – even though the Yankees aren’t a big deal around here, they are my team – since i was a kid. I need a new hat – so I guess I’m heading to the mall today. Oh joy.

New Music

Listened to the local “progressive” radio station for about half an hour today. I was stuck in traffic and bored and annoyed with the local country and rock stations. So I scanned for a bit and ended up on the Lightning 100 station. I have to say that the music was good – even though I didn’t recognize a damn song out of the 6 or 7 that they played. But it was a nice change. I went ahead and punched the shortcut button to save it as button number 5, so I can find it again. Maybe I need to expand my horizons a bit and start listening to new music. You know, get out of that comfort zone for a bit.

Weather Balloon

Have you seen the Citi bank charge card commercial when three guys launch a weather balloon? The guy supposedly bought a weather balloon with his points from using his charge card. They set the balloon loose with a video camera attached. It comes down in a tree and they watch the video on an Apple laptop computer.

What does all this have to do with get a good credit card? The fact that you can have fun with credit card rewards programs should not be the overriding reason to get a credit card from this company.

Choices

There is a difference between having choices and making decisions. Although they both seem to have the same end result. But if you look at each word in different circumstances, you can see that choices may be limited or unlimited, but decisions have a limited number of outcomes. And you can have a choice without a decision, but you cannot have a decision without a choice.

Breakfast of Champs

Can you imagine fixing breakfast for a team of football players? It must be incredibly expensive. I know those guys can EAT. They are all about protein, too. They want meat – and lots of it.

Me, I’m happy with a poptart and a cup of coffee. I have never liked breakfast and only eat it once in a great while – and then it is usually for dinner. My ideal breakfast is served at Cracker Barrel – I love their pancakes and they have all the sidemeats and eggs done any way you like, plus grits or fruit. Good stuff.

Ugly

Some people are ugly and that’s all you can say about it. They just had the bad luck to be born with facial features or body parts that are not aesthetic. This does not mean they are bad people. If they were raised in a loving and supportive family, they can still blossom into great people. But they have been teased, bullied and neglected, what kind of monsters have those parents created? I think ugly people are here for a reason – to bring out the good in other people or to put a spotlight on the bad ones that raised them.

Odd Sense of Humor

Jokes can backfire on you. Not everyone has the same sense of humor, and some people don’t like things that make other people laugh.

Personally, I don’t see anything funny about peopleofwalmart.com where they post photos of Walmart shoppers who are dressed oddly. Why would you look at that stuff and laugh at those weirdos? I don’t get it – if you do that you are a sick pup in my book.

Chat with any celebrity?

If you could chat with any celebrity who would it be, and why?

I personally would like to have coffee with George Cloney, as this guy has always been one of my favorite actors – ever since his role on the famous hit television show E.R., in which he played a very smart doctor. Every movie that has ever done, I have seen probably three times – if not four – and if I had a chance to chat with any celebrity, it would have to be him.

I, for one, would love to meet him at Starbucks and pick his brain over some hot java. I always wanted to know what he thought his best movie role was and why, along with just the basics – you know, how is it going? What you been up to? etc etc.. Anyway, enough about my chat with a celebrity. The question is to you and that is, if you could have a chat with any celebrity who would it be? And what would you talk about?

Not a Boxing Fan

They say that boxing is a sport but I am not a fan. do not see any sport involved with punching another person and hurting them. I also do not see the sport in betting money on which of two men can take a beating better than the other guy. The same goes for mixed martial arts. Why people do this to themselves and each other is beyond my reasoning. Its barbaric and not anything I want to watch.

Cantaloupes

This late in the summer is the best time to buy cantaloupes. They are grown in sandy soil and easily shipped anywhere in the U.S. for purchase within a day of coming off the vine. I think the sweetest melons come from the Eastern Shore of Maryland, but it is hard to find them this far west. I believe the last batch of domestic melons in my grocery were grown in Indiana. They are huge, but not anywhere near as sweet as the ones grown in Maryland.
