Turtle Soup

Hunting for turtles is not a big activity in these parts, but I saw a show on one of those educational cable channels about guys in Louisiana going into the swamps and catching a variety of critters. They killed a bunch of those large swamp rats and ended up trading a bunch of those for some snapping turtles. Then they went and made some turtle soup. It was interesting. I think if I had to choose between swamp rat and snapping turtle, I’d have to go with the turtles.

Here Come the Cicadas

I have been seeing the holes in the dirt for about 2 weeks now. At first I thought they were snake holes – and I’m really glad that they are not snake holes. There are hundreds of the holes now and the bugs are showing themselves too. The 13 year Cicada invasion has begun.

I cannot believe the idiots on motorcycles who go tearing down my street on the weekends. The speed limit is 25 and there are kids and pets running around. Don’t be driving 50 miles an hour through my neighborhood!

Leather Weather

Right now we are experiencing some nice “Leather Weather” riding your Harley Davidson in 70 degree weather is perfect for wearing your leathers for warmth and protection as well. I saw a ton of motorcycle enthusiasts out and about this weekend, taking advantage of this wonderful riding weather.

I miss my bike, big time, particularly this time of the year. One day I’ll have enough to buy my dream bike, an old Panhead or even a Knucklehead would do nicely. It will be chopped out and have a nice paint job on her, with ape hangers to top it all off with.

We Are Losing Light

This is the time of the year that we are quickly losing our precious day light. Soon we will have to set our clocks back one hour and we will be stuck in the dark even more. I hate the thought that summer will soon be over and we will be seeing the weather getting cooler and cooler with each passing day. Next thing you know it will be winter, then the holidays will be here and that is just plain depressing.

Hurricane Earl has put a “damper” on a lot of people’s Labor Day plans, what a way to end the summer!

Make sure to go outside

What a great month this is, around here it is so awesome outside just the right temperatures that you can do anything outside and not break a sweat and with enough of a breeze to feel like your at the ocean and keep you cool.

Yea there is nothing quite like a summer day in the hills of Tennessee when the weather is just right. i love doing outdoor activities and going out to different places like eating out on the patio of the favorite restaurant. When it gets nice outside in your neck of the woods what do you like to do?
